Feel safe at Freestyle – Our COVID-19 procedures

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

As lockdown lifts, what will the new normal look like at Freestyle Hair Design, here in Treforest? The safety of our customers, and the staff, has always been our priority – now more than ever.

Updated 26 December 2021

Welcome back to Freestyle Hair Design!

We are delighted to welcome you back to our salon, where our aim has always been for you to look and feel fantastic. Now we know you need to feel safe too. We understand that you may be nervous about your visit, or unsure what you need to do, so we have put together this handy guide for you.

Please do not come to the salon if you have COVID-19 symptoms, know that you have been in contact with someone with the virus, or you simply do not feel very well. Just let us know, and we will reschedule your appointment. It is recommended that you take a lateral flow test before you come.

Making a booking

Unfortunately, we can not accept walk-ins, so it is a priority that you book an appointment. You will be asked to confirm that you have no symptoms and will need to let us know about any recent travel you may have undertaken.

We are only seeing customers on a one to one basis. All of our attention will be on you and your hair.

PPE – Personal Protective Equipment

All of the stylists will wear a clean apron, which we change between customers, and gloves (where practical to do so), as well as wearing visors and masks. Anti-bacterial gel is readily available for you to use too. We ask you to put some on your hands when you arrive.

Work stations and chairs will have spaces between them, and there are staggered appointment times to reduce the number of people in the salon. This also allows for additional cleaning time. We ask that you socially distance while in the salon at all times.

It is a legal requirement to wear a face mask or face covering indoors. This includes during your hair appointment. If you are medically or physically unable to wear one, this is no problem, but please let us know when you make your appointment.

Cleaning Procedures

Every day the whole salon will be deep cleaned and disinfected before opening. Chairs and work stations, and equipment are thoroughly cleaned between appointments. All gowns are freshly laundered at a high temperature, none are re-used. This also applies to our towels.

“I think we’ve put in as much as we can, to make clients and staff feel safe. The salon’s cleanliness has always been a point of pride for me, and I will continue to keep up these high standards. I feel confident that we are following the government guidelines, and look forward to welcoming everyone back to the salon.” Louise, Salon Manager

Skin Testing

Whilst we were shut, significant legal changes have been made to skin testing before you have your hair coloured. As they are government-mandated and affect our insurance policies, you will need to have your skin tested - regardless if you have had one with us previously. Here's all the information you need to know before your next salon visit.

Guest journey – what you need to do, and what to expect

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment

The door will be locked, but we will be keeping an eye out for you. You can also knock the door, or wave at us through the window.

If you are late, we may not be able to carry out your planned service due to the new restrictions on timing and our salon schedules. Please contact us if you are running late.

  • Please come to your appointment on your own

Due to social distancing rules, and the number of guests we can have in the salon at one time, we do not have the space for others. If you need or are a carer, meaning it is impossible to be on your own, please let us know when you make the appointment so appropriate measures can be made.

  • On entry, please sanitise your hands

  • Please keep your personal belongings to a minimum

  • Track and trace

You will be asked to provide your contact details. This information is kept safe. It is not passed on to third-party companies or used for marketing. It is retained for 21 days. You will be contacted if anyone notifies us that they have tested positive for coronavirus after their visit, within this time frame. This is also in line with our GDPR policy. There is also a Track and Trace QR code on the wall as you enter the salon.

  • We are unable to provide refreshments at this time

Please do not bring any food with you, but you may bring a drink with a lid.

  • No magazines are available for you to read

In line with current guidelines, we are unable to provide you with any reading material. You’re more than welcome to bring your own book or Kindle. Earlier this year we said no to gossip magazines.

Payment

We kindly request that you pay for your services or products with a card, this is our preferred method of payment. However, we can still take cash. Gift vouchers can also be redeemed.

Going forward

We shall continue to monitor guidelines from the government and take any appropriate action.

Can’t wait to see you all, and welcome you back. Warm wishes and stay safe
