The reason I set up Hair Design Education is because I saw a real gap between college and salon life. Having struggled myself early in my career, I know how unprepared assistants can feel. I’ve seen assistants come into my salon totally unprepared and basically clueless about what they needed to do, which inspired me to create this resource.
I couldn’t sit back any longer. The timings, the teamwork, taking appointments, the pace of a real salon, none of that is taught, and suddenly you’re expected to know it. And cut hair on your own without someone saying, “Yes, that’s right!”
I remember struggling myself and losing confidence in my skills. I felt scared and out of my depth. Stepping into a new salon where I didn’t know anyone, I wondered if I could even keep doing the job. That experience motivated me to develop tools that help others avoid feeling lost and build confidence faster.
And that’s precisely why I created this safe, no-judgment space. I want to bridge that gap and let assistants know they’re not alone. You are supported. You do have somewhere to come for advice, help, and simple masterclasses that actually make sense in real salon life.
My passion for helping people look and feel amazing naturally led me down the education path. I resisted it for a while because, like the first time I picked up a pair of scissors, it was brand new to me.
